Format

The fourth annual symposium of the PSSRC will be held in Cambridge. Members of the PSSRC are encouraged to submit a 300-word abstract to the meeting. These scientific contributions will be actively discussed during the meeting in the form of both poster and oral presentations. Oral presentations will be for 20 min plus 5 min questions.

This year we will trial e-poster presentations instead of normal poster presentations. Instead of bringing a printed version of a poster and putting it up for display during poster sessions the e-posters will be more interactive. There will be a row of three computers, allowing for three poster presentations in parallel. The presenters will be allocated half an hour presentation time during which three informal parallel presentations will take place next to one another. The audience will stand around the screen of the computer together with the presenter and will be able to interrupt the presentation at any time to ask questions. The presentation should contain the same information as would be printed on the poster but in the format of a normal slide presentation. The idea is that there will be a discussion about the work in small groups and the audience and the presenter can go back and forth between the slides during the 30 min slot.

Preliminary Schedule

• Sunday 19, September
  Arrival during the day; punting on the Cam in the afternoon; two e-poster sessions in the Caius College garden; BBQ (weather permitting)
• Monday 20 September
  Full meeting day with oral sessions and further e-posters in the lecture theatre of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology; PSSRC steering committee meeting in the afternoon; in parallel sightseeing tour through Cambridge; symposium dinner at Caius College in the evening
• Tuesday, 21 September
  Talks in the morning; lunch and then open end of the meeting
